Here comes the sun….

It’s been just over a year since we entered our first lockdown. All manner of businesses suffered, but, arguably none more so than the hospitality and leisure trade.

And now, at long last, we have working vaccines and a road map designed to help us get back to our lives and our livelihoods.

We all want the re-opening of outdoor space for pubs and restaurants to happen on 12th April, and we all want it to be a great success. We hope that people embrace the novelty of being able to do what we all used to take for granted. And we cannot wait until May 17th when further restrictions are lifted. And, 21st June, a day normally only celebrated by a gathering of Druids at Stonehenge, will be the most significant day of all.

So, some real cause for optimism. But, having spoken with a large number of our customers in this sector, it feels like a slightly muted optimism. Never before has the motto ‘Hope for the best. Plan for the worst’ seemed so true.

No-one really knows for sure how well this reopening programme will go. Even if it’s the best it can possibly be, in terms of the government feeling we’ve hit all the right marks to enable this timeline to happen, we just don’t know how people will react. Will there be this bounce back effect? Will we see the heralding of a 21st century ‘Roaring Twenties’? Or will people hold back – worried at the prospect of being with others in close quarters or sticking with their lockdown related behaviours [socialising with friends in the park, on a walk or in the back garden]? Even whether people will be worried about spending money. The truth is, we don’t know. No-one knows.

But what we do know is that Curbside is, and will continue to be, your reliable partner in waste management, and we can and will help you navigate your way back to business [in fact, busy-ness] as you know it.

We can do this by putting in place flexible contracts which can grow or shrink depending on the ebb and flow of your business – so you’re never overpaying.

We can set up contracts now, but which only go live once you’re fully operational again.

We can work with you to set up the optimal collection times.

We can provide personal account managers who will work with you to monitor your waste output and then proactively recommend the best tariff [and ensuring that you don’t have unsightly and odorous waste left lying around for prolonged periods, especially when your customers are outside wanting to experience the freedoms we used to take for granted].

We can provide you with the reassurance that your environmental aspirations will be met [and often more than met].

We can add all this amazing value without you having to foot a hefty bill – we pride ourselves on our service and our prices.

And, most importantly, we can let you focus on those parts of the business which really matter  – getting your team going and keeping them motivated, looking after customers and delivering delight on a daily basis, ensuring quality supplies and, overall, reimagining and rebuilding the business so it’s fit for purpose across 2021 and beyond.

What we cannot guarantee is that the sun will come out on April 12th. But we’re hopeful. Very hopeful.
